Clipping Path

This is a process of removing the background of a portrait or object and replacing it with a choice of either - transparent, white, black or solid background. This will significantly improve the appearance of the image which will draw attention when used for the purpose of advertisement, e-commerce, catalogs and photo manipulations.

I distinguish between four types of clipping, basic, advanced, E-commerce and invisible mannequin.

• Basic clipping
This is a clipping path of a simple object. It has straight lines and is places against a basic background.

• Advanced clipping
This clipping path is complex, needs a lot of masking and is often done with the help of a drawing tablet.

• E-commerce clipping
This service is for commercial retailers and sellers that want to make their products web ready. After the clipping path is completed, preferred specifications and special effects can be added to improve the product such as sheen to jewellery, reflections, smoke and explosion effect or a drop shadow effect to give the product a realistic look.

• Invisible Mannequin.
The clipping technique is used in the clothing industry to give the product appearance of an invisible model is wearing it.
